Associate’s Degree in General Studies (Grantham University)
Grantham University offers the Associate of Arts – General Studies Program to individuals seeking a well-rounded general education. The program curriculum includes introductory courses. Comprising a major component of the program are courses that require writing for content and persuasion. Graduates are expected to demonstrate critical thinking and communication skills, analyze terminology and perspectives of various academic disciplines while being able to communicate, analyze and synthesize effectively the knowledge derived from these disciplines.
The Associate degree program is offered by the university through its College of Arts and Sciences in the online format. Graduates will have career opportunities in different business and government settings such as office managers, executive assistants, administrative services managers, or bookkeeping clerks. Other opportunities can be found in more general fields while career possibilities are opened up in more specific fields through further coursework and/or certification training.
Required courses include Student Success, Principles of Business Management, Principles of Sociology, Computer Concepts and Office Applications, English Composition, College Algebra, American Government, Fundamentals of Psychology, World History, Microeconomics, Advanced Microcomputer Applications, Introduction to Sociology II, Personal Finance, and Introduction to Physical Science. The program has a length of sixty-two (62) credit hours. Programs offered by the university are accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC).
Prospective students are required to provide official high school transcripts or high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate. A minimum TOEFL score of two hundred thirteen (213) for computer-based, sixty-one (61) for Internet-based or five hundred (500) for paper-based is required for students from non-English speaking countries. Tuition is approximately $ 265.00 per credit.
