Online AS in Criminal Justice (Hodges University)

Hodges University offers the Associate of Science in Criminal Justice Program for individuals seeking entry-level positions in the criminal justice field. Credits earned from this program can be applied towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. The university is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Students must complete at least sixty (60) semester hours to graduate. The program curriculum consists of the Criminal Justice Component, Liberal Arts Component, and the Criminal Justice Electives. Required Criminal Justice Courses include Introduction to Criminal Justice Systems, Introduction to Homeland Security, Introduction to Corrections, Criminology, Crime and Delinquency, and Survey of Forensic Science. Required courses for the Liberal Arts Component include Computer Applications, Foundations for College Success, Strategic Thinking, English Composition, College Mathematics, Professional Communication, and Ethics or Philosophy. Elective courses are selected from 2000 to 3000 level with approval of the student’s advisor.

The Criminal Justice Program offer specialty areas such as behavioral sciences, intelligence, terrorism, and forensics. The academic preparation provided by the program is such that it includes practical real-world application of skills and knowledge acquired. One of the program’s strengths is its instructors who are able to share their respective expertise by introducing students to the world of practicing lawyers, corrections personnel, probation and parole officers, judges and law enforcement officers.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Tuition cost is $ 405.00 per credit hour for an estimated total cost of $ 27,600.00. Graduates can pursue career positions in police department, correctional institutions, parole agencies, financial investigation offices, and immigration department, among others.
