Herzing University offers the Online Associate of Science in Medical Office Administration (ASMOA) Program to individuals interested in obtaining the academic knowledge and skills for entry-level positions in the healthcare industry, specifically in an office environment. This would include a medical office, hospital, clinic, long term care facilities, and other office settings in the healthcare industry. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Students are expected to complete the program within five (5) semesters of full course load or twenty (20) months. Program length is sixty-two (62) semester credit hours. Required courses include Medical Terminology for Healthcare Professionals, Database Applications, Keyboarding, Medical Business Operations, Medical Office Procedures, Pathophysiology and Pharmacology, Pathophysiology and Pharmacology Lab Corequisites, Medical Billing and Insurance Procedures, and Internship. Other required courses consist of a minimum of seven (7) credit hours of Open Electives, a minimum of twenty-nine (29) semester credit hours in General Education Courses, and a minimum of three (3) semester credit hours of Personal Development Courses.

Medical Office Administration provides career opportunities to individuals interested in the healthcare field but would prefer to perform office-related duties than direct patient care. Training is concentrated in three (3) main areas: strong communication, organization and technological skills; health sciences; and content of medical record, patient privacy laws and industry regulations. Estimated total tuition cost is $ 29,750.00.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent plus a completed interview with the university’s Admission Representative. Students can avail of offered loans, grants and scholarships to help them finance their education.
