Grantham University offers the Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Program with a Concentration in Homeland Security in the online format. As students are trained to obtain the ability to analyze criminal justice theories and concepts, it is expected that their analytical skills will be honed for effective decision-making and problem-solving. Graduates can look forward to career positions in law enforcement whether on the local, state or federal level. The university is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council.

A concentration requires at least eighteen (18) credit hours in major electives from the Discipline of Criminal Justice which should be at least 300 level or higher. The required courses for the Homeland Security Concentration are intended to prepare students for work positions that involve the protection of the nation’s borders as well as preparation and recovery from emergencies. Students are advised to take these courses in a specific sequence as follows: Understanding Terrorism, Principles of Terrorism, Terrorism and US National Security, Border and Coastal Security, Elements and Issues in Counterterrorism, and Emergency Planning. After successful completion of the program, graduates are expected to be ready and qualified to occupy job positions involving border security and intelligence, emergency and disaster planning, and terrorism prevention and analysis.

The successful completion of the program however also requires students to finish Program Core Courses and General Education Courses. Elective Courses are meant to increase the breadth of the chosen concentration. A criminal justice degree is seen as an employable qualification in a job market because of the existence of criminal activity at any given time. It is also becoming a requirement for most job positions in the police department and is also seen as a suitable prerequisite program for those intending to enter law schools. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
