Grand Canyon University (GCU) offers the Bachelor of Arts in Communications in the online format. It is a 12-credit program comprised of General Education courses, Communication Major courses and Elective courses. A minimum of thirty-six (36) upper-division credits is required for students to graduate from GCU.

General Education courses include University Foundations, Effective Communication, Christian Worldview, Critical Thinking, and Global Awareness/Perspective and Ethics. Communication Major courses include Biblical Thinking in the Liberal Arts, Communication and the Media, History of Criticism of Visual Media, Persuasive Theory, Writing for the Media, Principles of Public Relations, Intercultural Communications, Public Relations Writing and Design, Visual Media and Storytelling, Consumer Communications and Behavior, and Communication Issues and Critical Thinking. Graduates of the program have several master’s degree options such as Master of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations, Master of Communication, Master of Professional Writing, and Master of Science in Communication Technology, among others.

The program seeks to prepare students to be leaders in human communication and the media field. Possible career options include copy editor, reporter, salesperson and public relations specialist. It also gives students the opportunity to develop skills that will enable them to deliver effective messages capable of influencing attitudes and behavioral changes.

Minimum program requirements include US citizenship and some college credits. Concentrations are offered in Digital Film Production, Public Relations, and Graphic Design/ Animation. Tuition rate is $ 687.50 per credit which is the same as on-campus tuition rates. Minimum admission requirement for prospective students is a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
