Bachelor Degree in Graphic Design (Grand Canyon University)
The Bachelor of Arts in Communication is offered by the Grand Canyon University in several concentrations. One of these is Graphic Design which is provided in the online format. Students of Communications Program are trained to develop skills, creativity and knowledge that will enable them to be successful in their chosen careers. Entry-level positions as copy editors, public relations specialist, reporters or salespersons are made available to program graduates.
The program consists of a total of one hundred twenty (120) credits comprised of thirty-four (34) to forty (40) General Communication credits, forty-four (44) Communications Major credits, and thirty-six (36) to forty-two (42) Elective credits. Students are required to complete a minimum of thirty-six (36) upper-division credits to be considered as graduates of the university. Concentration courses are designed to provide relevant skills and knowledge in the field of graphic design as integrated in human communication and media.
All communications students should complete eleven (11) required courses before taking Concentration courses. Required Communications Major courses include Ethical Thinking in the Liberal Arts, Communications and the Media, History and Criticism of Visual Media, Persuasive Theory, Principles of Public Relations, Intercultural Communication, Public Relations Writing and Design, Visual Media and Storytelling, and Consumer Communications and Behavior. The Angel Technology is used in all online courses for consistency.
Students typically take two (2) courses for each 16-week semester. Each course is completed in eight (8) weeks. Grand Canyon’s online programs enjoy high ranking from various associations. Applicants must be at least twenty-one (21) years old and have some college credits.
