A Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting with an Emphasis Area in Auditing/Forensic Accountancy Program is specifically designed to teach students to develop the necessary knowledge and skills required to prevent fraud committed against individuals and organizations including the ability to detect and recognize this particular type of fraud. Kaplan University offers this program and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

The program requires students to complete one hundred eighty (180) credit hours. These consist of Core Courses, Major Courses, Open Electives and Emphasis Area Courses. Required Core Courses include 100/200 Level Communication Course, 100/200 Level Mathematics Course, 200 Level Communication Course, 300/400 Level Arts and Humanities Course, and 300/400 Level Social Science Course. Major Courses consists of Accounting I , Accounting II, Managerial Accounting, Federal Tax, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Business Math, 100/200 Level Major Elective, Intermediate Accounting I, Intermediate Accounting II, Business Law, 300/400 Level Major Electives, and the Bachelor’s Capstone in Accounting. Emphasis Area Courses include Intermediate Accounting III, Auditing, Advanced Accounting and Advanced Forensic Accounting. Completing the required courses are fifty-nine (59) credits of Open Electives.

All applicants must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Kaplan University offers the Advanced Start Option to enable students to complete the program within a span of just two (2) years. It is especially suited for associate or bachelor degree holders. The program curriculum effectively combines theory and practice in its online format. Graduates can work with law personnel to provide the accounting and finance skills necessary to determine the legality of business activities. Online programs are available to permanent residents or citizens of the US.
