Bachelor Degree in Child Studies (Post University Online)

Those with an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) can enroll in this program later on should they wish to complete a bachelor’s degree.
This bachelor’s degree program is offered online through Post University’s Online Accelerated Degree Program (ADP) and at its Waterbury campus. Students enrolled in this Bachelor of Science in Child Studies degree program will be involved in both classroom instruction and field work. They will also learn about the standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) as well as that of the Connecticut State Department of Education Preschool Framework. The framework standards are aimed at making sure that young children gain sufficient education, care and services that will develop their personality.
Major courses covered include foundations of early childhood education (ECE), creative activities, teaching the exceptional child, math, science and technology, social studies, health, safety and nutrition, emergent literacy, curriculum approaches, educational psychology, language development in children and learning theory. Students are also required to undergo a practicum.
