About the Degree

South University’s Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice will prepare you for a rewarding career in the criminal justice field. As a bachelor student, you can choose one of five specializations: law enforcement, corrections, juvenile justice, crime scene investigation, or cyber crime.

South University will teach you law enforcement procedures, courts and court procedures, the federal criminal justice system, corporate security and other aspects of the criminal justice system. The courses will give you a multifaceted education in law enforcement, criminal justice, corrections, courts and private security while enhancing your computer skills to meet the requirements of today’s workforce.

Tuition is $361.00 per credit hour. A total of 180 credit hours are required for degree completion including 17 general education courses, 3 non-discipline electives, 16 core courses and 10 specialization courses. Each area of specialization has specific course requirements. Transfer credits from other educational institutions may be considered. Financial aid and military discounts are available to qualifying applicants.

When you graduate from the program, you will be ready for the entry-level positions in juvenile justice, corrections, law enforcement, private investigation, homeland security, or private security. As you become more experienced, you can move up to jobs like deputy warden, supervisor, detective, and field investigator. The degree also gives you a good foundation for law school, if you choose to pursue the career of public defender or prosecutor.
