The Online Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with an Emphasis in Science (Grades K-8) (Eligible for Institutional Recommendation) is offered by Grand Canyon University to students interested in pursuing careers in education of children in Grades K-8 specifically in the field of Science. Graduates are expected to be informed educators in various settings that require a teaching credential including public and private schools. The program format and courses have been designed to maximize knowledge and skills expected to be possessed by graduates.

Science Emphasis Courses include Exploring Education as a Profession, Earth and Space Science, Introduction to Physical Science, Introduction to Life Sciences I and II, Cultural Diversity in the Classroom, English Language Teaching: Foundations and Methodologies, Educational Psychology, Instructional Technology, Curriculum/Methods and Assessment: Social Studies, Educating the Exceptional Learner, Curriculum/Methods and Assessment: Science and Mathematics , Curriculum/Methods and Assessment: Literacy and Language Art K-3, Classroom Engagement and Management, Curriculum/Methods and Assessment: Literacy and Language Arts 4-8, Arizona and Federal Government, and Student Teaching Sessions A and B. The recommended elective for this program is Environmental Science. The Advanced Methodologies of Structured English Immersion Course satisfies the Arizona Department of Education requirement for six (6) credits of such area of study. All courses are directly aligned with the Interstate New Teacher Support and Assessment Consortium Standards and the Arizona Professional Teacher Standards.

Grand Canyon University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Applicants should be at least twenty-one (21) years old and have some college credits. Inquiries from Arkansas and Connecticut are not accepted at this time due to certain state requirements.
