Online Advanced Start BS in Environmental Policy and Management (Kaplan University)

Kaplan University offers the Advanced Start B.S. in Environmental Policy and Management Program to individuals interested in pursuing careers in organizations promoting environmental issues and policy. The program offers an interdisciplinary approach that studies environmental policy management in relation to society and economics. It is offered on the online format. Kaplan University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Students are required to complete a minimum of one hundred eighty (180) credit hours. The program curriculum consists of Environmental Management Courses, Legal Studies Courses, Public Policy Courses, Core Courses, and Open Electives Courses. Environmental Management Courses include Introduction to Environment Policy and Management, The Politics of Managing the Environment, The Economics of Environmental Management, The Global Environment, Environmental Policy Analysis, and the Bachelor’s Capstone in Environmental Policy and Management. Legal Studies Courses include Eight Skills of the Effective Legal Studies Student and the Advanced Environmental Law and Policy.

Also required to be completed by the student are the Public Policy Courses that include Ethics and Public Administration, Introduction to Policy Making, Introduction to Administrative Law, Socially Responsible Leadership, Finance and Budgeting in the Public Sector, Private and Public Sector Partnerships, and Program Evaluation or Grant Writing. Required Core Courses include 100/200 Level Courses in Communication and Mathematics; 200 Level Communication Course; and 300/400 Level Courses in Arts and Humanities, Physical Science and Social Science. Completing the list of Required Courses are courses in Statistics and Environmental Science as well as fifty-four (54) credits of Open Electives. Students can opt for the Advanced Start Program by having approved credits transferred from a completed associate’s degree.

Graduates can pursue job positions as Compliance Specialist, Environmental Policy Advisor, Waste Management Specialist and Energy Advisor, among others. Applicants must have a high school diploma of GED equivalent and be a permanent resident of the US. Tuition cost is $ 371.00 per credit hour for an estimated total cost of $ 66,780.00.
