Online BS in Health Administration (Hodges University)

Hodges University offers the Bachelor of Science in Health Administration program to individuals seeking management and leadership positions in various healthcare fields. All courses may be provided in the online format and handled by professors equipped with actual work experience and academic credentials. The university is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Holders of an associate degree must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. The program curriculum has a total length of one hundred twenty-two (122) credit hours and consists of three (3) components – Health Administration, Liberal Arts and Electives. Students can commence immediately with the Health Administration Component provided they have completed at least sixty (60) semester credit hours from an accredited institution.

The Health Administration Component consists of core courses including United States Healthcare System, The Healthcare Professional as Manager, Human Resource Management in Healthcare, Issues and Trends in Healthcare, Healthcare Regulation and Law, Healthcare Policy, Financial Management in Health Services, Twenty-First Century Leadership in Healthcare, and Research Methods on Healthcare. The Liberal Arts Component includes courses in English Composition, College Math, Statistics, Computer Applications, Foundations for College Success, and the Learning Portfolio. Also included in this component are one (1) Communications Elective, one (1) English or Communications Elective, one (1) Behavioral Science Elective, two (2) Humanities or Fine Arts Elective, and one (1) Liberal Arts Elective.

Comprising the Elective Component are forty-four (44) semester credits of healthcare-related courses. Courses are chosen in consultation with the Program Chair, Dean of the School of Allied Health or the Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs. These may also include transfer credits. Total program length is one hundred twenty-two (122) credit hours.
