Bachelor’s Degree: BS in Health Care Management (Herzing University)

The Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management (BSHCM) program prepares students for entry-level position in the healthcare management industry. The program combines a management curriculum with the technical coursework foundation in healthcare discipline. Graduates of the associate’s program usually continue into the bachelor’s program specifically those interested in management positions. Herzing University offers the program in the online format and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Required Healthcare Management Courses include Healthcare Human Resource Management, Management of Patient Records, Healthcare Quality, Epidemiology and Applied Healthcare Statistics, and Healthcare Information Systems. The total program length is one hundred twenty-one (121) semester credit hours including thirty (30) semester credit hours of Management Core Courses, three (3) semester credit hours for the Capstone Project, two (2) semester credit hours for Personal Development Courses, thirty-seven (37) credit hours of General Education Courses, and thirty-seven (37) credit hours of Elective Courses. Graduates of applicable associate degrees can transfer up to thirty-seven (37) credit hours from Core Courses. Some of the qualified associate degree disciplines are laboratory technology, medical assisting, dental assisting, medical coding, medical billing, nursing, medical office administration, radiological technology, therapeutic massage, surgical technology, and physical therapy assisting, among others.

The program is expected to be finished in nine (9) semesters of thirty-six (36) months. It can be shortened to twenty-eight (28) months through the accelerated format.
