Bachelor’s Degree: BS in Health Informatics (Capella University)
The demand for capable individuals who are well versed in the technological nuances required in health care establishments is growing. In order to meet the demand, Capella University has developed an online Bachelor of Science degree program that focuses on Health Informatics. The program, conducted through the internet, makes it possible for those who are already working to complete their degrees without making drastic changes in their personal and professional commitments.
Capella’s online BS Health Informatics degree program consists of 180 quarter credits worth of coursework, and these are earned by completing the prescribed number of General Education Courses, Core Courses, 39 quarter credits worth of Electives and a Capstone Course that should be taken on the learner’s last quarter in school. Coursework includes topics such as electronic information system management, information security, data integrity, and regulatory compliance. Those who successfully complete the course would be better prepared to use technology to improve the quality of heath care services, and make recommendations to help reduce health care costs. Graduates often pursue IT-specialist roles in hospitals, clinics and other health care related establishments.
Tuition not usually reflect the cost of books and other expenses that may be incurred while completing the program. There are, however, financial aid programs such as grants, loans and scholarships, in place and these are readily available to eligible students.
