Capella University is offering a unique online Bachelor of Science degree program that will train individuals to excel in a career focused on protecting the country, its citizens, land and properties. Capella’s online Bachelor of Science with Homeland Security specialization is designed to help prepare individuals to excel in managing public security in conjunction with allocated federal resources.

The full program consists of 180 quarter credits worth of academic coursework, and these credits are earned by completing the prescribed number of General Elective Courses, Core and Specialization Courses, Elective Courses and a Capstone Course which is to be taken on the learner’s last quarter in the program. The curriculum of Capella’s online BS Homeland Security program includes topics on domestic and international terrorism; multi-jurisdictional coordination; and approaches to national security (diplomatic, technological and intelligence based). The Capstone project at the end of the program allows learners to apply and demonstrate the skills they have just recently acquired.

Those who successfully complete the program are eligible to work in federal, state or local security / enforcement agencies. Other career options include transitioning from the military into a more private, civilian homeland security career.

Tuition does not include the cost of books and other incidental expenses. Furthermore, tuition is subject to change without prior notice. To help make the cost of education more affordable, Capella University has set in place several financial aid options including grants, loans and scholarships. These are readily available to eligible students.

Capella University has been designated by the National Security Agency and the US Department of Homeland Security as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education (CAEIAE).
