Information systems work to connect business with computer science to enable the swift processing of information within business entities. The field of computer science supports task performance by humans in areas where it is needed such as the handling of large amounts of information and controlling processes that are simultaneously taking place. An educational program that focuses on Information Systems Management enables students to use the obtained knowledge and skill in facilitating the design of high quality systems and implementing them for corporate decision making.

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the field. The Advanced Start Option is open to associate or bachelor’s degree holders and has a total length of ninety (90) credit hours as compared to the regular bachelor’s degree program which requires students to complete a minimum of one hundred eighty (180) credit hours. Tuition rate is $ 425.00 and $ 371.00 per credit hour, respectively.

Required courses for the Advanced Start Option include Project Management I or Managing Technological Innovation, IT Consulting Skills or Information Technology, Externship, Internet Business Fundamentals or Management of Information Systems, Structured Query Language or Database Design, Bachelor’s Capstone in Information Technology, System Analysis and Design, Human Computer Interaction, Technology Infrastructure, Project Management I or IT Consulting Skills, Management of Information Systems, and Managing Technological Innovation. The program is offered in two (2) tracks – the Applied Technology Track and the Information Systems Track. Information Systems Management is offered as one of several focus areas under the Applied Technology Track. Other focus areas in this track include Network Administration, New Media/ Internet Marketing, Project Management, and Web Development.

The program is offered by Kaplan University in the online format. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
