Online Advanced Start BS in Information Technology – Mobile Computing (Kaplan University)
Kaplan University offers the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Program to individuals seeking entry-level positions or career advancement in the field. It is provided in two (2) tracks of study namely the Applied Technology Track and the Information Systems Track. Under the Information Systems Track are several career focus areas consisting of Application Development, Database Management, Health Informatics, Information Security and Forensics, and Mobile Computing.
The Advanced Start Option for the Bachelor of Science in Information with a Focus Area in Mobile Computing is open to associate or bachelor degree holders from an accredited institution. Students can apply for credit transfers for prior learning provided that the total combined credit transfer does not exceed 75% of the total number of credits required for the bachelor’s degree program and at least 50% of the major program requirements are taken at Kaplan University. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Required courses for the Advanced Start Program include Intermediate Java Programming, Introduction to Mobile Systems, Introduction to Wireless Application Development, Mobile Database Systems, Mobile Application Development for Apple Handheld Devices, Project Management I or Human Computer Interaction, Technology Infrastructure, Internet Business Fundamentals or Structured Query Language or IT Consulting Skills, System Analysis and Design, Bachelor’s Capstone in Information Technology, and Foundations of Programming Using Java. The Focus Area on Mobile Computing is especially suitable for individuals interested in developing software applications for handheld and mobile communication devices.
Tuition cost is $ 425.00 per credit hour. Regular bachelor’s degree program costs $ 371.00 per credit hour. All applicants must at least have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
