Online BS in Nursing – Bridge (Herzing University)
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing – Bridge Program is offered by Herzing University to nurses seeking to further their education for increased career opportunities. This is a Nursing Completion Program offered entirely in the online format. Professional nurses are prepared to become leaders and managers as they acquire a solid foundation to facilitate entry into nursing programs in the graduate level.
Applicants must have an associate degree or diploma in nursing; unrestricted active registered nurse (RN) license to practice nursing, minimum over-all GPA of 2.5, and completed required prerequisite courses. A bachelor’s degree is usually an entry-level requirement for administrative positions in nursing and the healthcare industry in general. Graduates are expected to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for leadership and management positions.
Students are required to complete a minimum of one hundred twenty-eight (128) semester credits to graduate. This would include transferred credits allowed from prior accredited learning. It takes about twenty (20) months or five (5) semesters of full course load to finish the program. Graduates can look forward to career opportunities in positions such as Department Head, Administrator, Nurse Practitioner, and Nurse Anesthetists.
Required Nursing Courses include Professional Role Transition, Pathophysiology, Legal and Ethical Issues in Nursing, Health Assessment and Promotion Across the Lifespan, Conceptual Models of Nursing Practice, Nursing Informatics, Evidence-Based Nursing Research and Practice, National and Global Health and Policy Issues, Nursing Leadership and Management, and Community Nursing Practice Corequisites. Other required courses include nine (9) semester credits in Business and Finance Courses, fifty (50) semester credits of Open Elective Courses or Transfer Credits in Nursing, thirty-seven (37) semester credits of General Education Courses, and one (1) semester credit of Personal Development Courses. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
