The Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Program is offered by Kaplan University to bachelor degree holders interested in pursuing mid-level positions in human resources. The program provides learning in various topics including employee recruitment and selection, employee reward systems, employee training and development, employment and labor law, and assessment models. Participants of the program are ably prepared for the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) Certification Program.

The program consists of a minimum of sixteen (16) quarter credit hours. Participants are awarded a certificate upon completion of the required courses. The curriculum requires completion of courses in Employment and Labor Law, Training and Development, Strategic Reward Systems, and Recruitment and Selection. Graduate Certificate Programs are not eligible for Title IV federal financial aid. These programs however, provide a cost-effective and flexible education option for working adult students.

Participants must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Credits earned from this certificate program can be applied towards a related degree program in the university. Kaplan University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Bachelor degree holders with human resource certification are given access to more advanced career options as managers, mediators, and arbitrators. Management positions in the human resource department necessitate the performance of specific functions pertaining to training and development; performance evaluation and management; career development; industrial and employee relations; compensation, benefits and job analysis; record keeping of personal data; promotions; and redundancy, among others. These functions are expected to be carried out in a legal and consistent manner in consideration of what is just and fair in the industry.
