Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) is offering an online Graduate Certificate in Occupational Safety. This degree program is designed to increase one’s understanding of health and safety practices, procedure and regulations needed to establish a career ensuring the safety of workers in their work places.

The curriculum of EKU’s online Graduate Certificate in Occupational Safety is patterned after the industry renowned Safety, Security and Emergency Management program and focuses on the analysis, prevention and management of workplace safety and security. The program also covers the different types of work environments and their respective safety hazards and threats. Students are given opportunities to examine construction site safety, safety management in industrial workplaces and they will also learn what it takes to stay safety compliant in the industry. All these topics, and other matters that involve the intricacies of occupational safety are covered in four courses: Industrial Safety management (SSE 828), Construction Safety (SSE 832), Corporate Compliance (SSE 834), and Personal/Environmental Hazards (SSE 845).

EKU’s online Certificate in Occupational Safety program uses the same curriculum as its online Master’s Degree and can be completed independently of any degree program. To earn the certificate, candidates must take the above mentioned four courses which is equivalent to 12 academic credit hours.
