Kaplan University, through the Kaplan Continuing Education (KCE) offers various online career training programs including the Project Management Certificate. The program is especially designed to allow working professionals the chance to achieve educational and career advancement goals without sacrificing work and family obligations. The program trains students on how to use project management tools, processes, and techniques in selecting, governing, funding, and implementing organizational activities.
Project Managers are expected to effectively perform specific functions such as but not limited to authorizing and defining work scope in developing new products or services; developing the project management plan, completing the defined work in the plan; comparing actual performance and planned performance; completing all activities related to the project and transferring the completed projects to the client; and over-seeing all related aspects of the program.
The program, which can be completed within six (6) months or less, is offered in three (3) tracks. The Business Track is designed to provide expanded topics about the methods and tools required for successful project management. The Information Technology Track focuses on technology’s unique and continuously-changing nature while the Construction Track provides learning in the construction industry’s generally accepted practices of project management. Aspiring applicants must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Some of the Required Courses include Strategic Project Management, Project Initiation/Planning and Execution, Project Cost and Schedule Monitoring and Controlling, and Project Risk/Quality and Procurement Monitoring and Controlling. Kaplan University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
