Grand Canyon University offers the Master of Arts in Christian Studies with an Emphasis in Pastoral Ministry to individuals who desire to be Christian leaders. Using biblical studies as foundation, the curriculum framework is comprised of an understanding of theology, philosophy and Christian history. Focus is placed on the preparation of leaders in acquiring biblical and theological knowledge as character and integrity is developed in all aspects of life.

.This program enhances the capabilities of current pastors and trains aspiring pastors to effectively lead a ministry. A deeper understanding of pastoral styles and the real situations faced by today’s Christian leaders is developed. The curriculum includes the study of the direct practice of pastoral ministry as well as the ethical issues in relation to leadership. It will also cover preaching techniques and technologies in the preparation and delivery of sermons. Graduates are expected to effectively shepherd a Christian congregation as they continue to inspire faith through learned understanding and skills.

The Christian Studies Program include required courses in Old Testament Foundations, New Testament Foundations, Systematic Theology I and II, Spiritual Formation and Mentoring, Christian Worldview and Contextualization, and Biblical Hermeneutics. Pastoral Ministry Emphasis Courses include The Work of the Pastor, and Homiletics. Program length is thirty-six (36) credits with each course equivalent to four (4) credits.

Students will be trained to achieve the necessary skills in public speaking, theological analysis, organization and counseling. These degree programs support a graduate’s career goals as ministers, pastors, theologians, evangelists, and motivational speakers. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
