Online Master of Professional Studies Degree (Hodges University)

Hodges University offers the Master of Professional Studies (MPS) Program to individuals seeking careers in global environment- focused organizations. Graduates of this program are expected to have achieved knowledge and skills required for management positions. An MPS degree program focuses learning in direct relevance to professional employment and typically includes fieldwork or internship as compared to Master of Arts (MA) degree which emphasizes research and theory building. MPS is an interdisciplinary terminal degree with an offered concentration in an applied field of study.

Consisting of a total of thirty (30) credit hours, the program can be completed within four (4) to five (5) trimesters. The program curriculum consists of the Professional Studies Core Component for twelve (12) credits and the Discipline-Specific Tracks for eighteen (18) credits. Courses in the former are intended to provide a solid foundation in competencies that complement the courses in the latter. Students have the choice on which track to declare as an intended special expertise based on personal and career preferences.

Required courses for the Professional Studies Core Component include Research Methods, Professional Ethics/Social Responsibility and Diversity, Management Processes, and Professional Studies Capstone Project. Track choices include the Education Track, the Psychology Track, the Professional Leadership Track, and the Interdisciplinary Track. The Interdisciplinary Track allows students to select six (6) courses from any of the university’s graduate programs to form an individualized degree plan with the assistance of a Faculty Advisor. There may be certain prerequisites for some courses. It is possible that the total number of credits will exceed thirty (30) depending on a student’s educational objective.

Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree. Hodges University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
