MEd in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages – No IR, No Cert. (Grand Canyon University)
The Online Master of Education in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) (Not Eligible for Institutional Recommendation) Program is offered by Grand Canyon University to certified teachers or administrators interested in teaching ESL students. Graduates of the program are expected to become leaders in implementing ESL/TESOL initiatives. The program is provided in a format that is especially suitable for adult learners.
Required curriculum courses include Foundations of Instruction for English Language Learners, Methods of Teaching English and Grammar to Speakers of Other Languages, English Linguistics, Teaching a Second Language in the Content Areas, Teaching in a Pluralistic Society, Language and Reading Acquisition Theories and Research, Curriculum Development and Assessment, and TESOL Practicum. Total number of credits is thirty-two (32). The practicum allows students to participate and experience acquisition of teaching and management skills at the preferred level of instruction.
