The Master of Public Health Program is offered by Kaplan University to individuals interested in pursuing leadership and managerial positions in governmental, private, or non-profit organizations in the industry of public health. The program seeks to develop professional, ethical, and administrative skills necessary to effectively apply public health principles or programs in health education and communication. Students are expected to learn how to apply scientific research and statistical methods, develop public health policies and programs, design health education programs and materials, and assess impact of various factors on health of individuals. This master’s degree program has three (3) Emphasis Areas namely Epidemiology, Health Education, and Public Health Program Development.

Total program length is sixty (60) credit hours. Core Courses include Organizational Development for Healthcare, Healthcare Finance and Economics, Health Information Management and Assessment, Health Behavior, Applied Biostatistics for Health Professionals, Applied Epidemiology for Health Professionals, Occupational and Environmental Health, Public Health Biology, Health Policy and Ethics in Public Health, Disaster Management for Public Health Professionals, and the Master’s Capstone in Public Health. Specialization Courses consists of sixteen (16) credit hours.

Students can use qualifying transfer credits to reduce total cost subject to existing policy. Qualified students can avail of offered tuition discounts, scholarships or federal aids.

All applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. They must also have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. The program is offered entirely in the online format and covers various topics including public health policy, health education, and public health management. Kaplan University is duly accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
