Graduates of the Master of Public Health Program with an Emphasis in Public Health Program Development will find themselves fully prepared to occupy leadership and managerial positions in governmental, private, and non-profit organizations in the public health industry. Focus is placed on developing professional, ethical, and administrative skills necessary to be able to apply public health principles on communication programs. The program is offered by Kaplan University in the online format and is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Required Courses include Core Courses and Emphasis Area Courses. Core Courses include Organizational Development for Healthcare, Healthcare Finance and Economics, Health Information Management and Assessment, Health Behavior, Applied Biostatistics for Health Professionals, Applied Epidemiology for Health Professionals, Occupational and Environmental Health, Public Health Biology, Health Policy and Ethics in Public Health, Disaster Management Public Health Professionals, and the Master’s Capstone in Public Health. Emphasis Area Courses include Community Health Assessment, Public Health Program Development, Grant and Contract Writing, and Healthcare Safety. Total program length is sixty (60) credit hours.
Students will learn the skills of assessing the health of a community, the principles of program development and evaluation in public health, the basics of the grant-seeking process, and how to manage the safety requirements of healthcare organizations.
