Master’s Degree: MPH in Social and Behavioral Sciences (Capella University)
Capella University is offering an online Master of Public Health (MPH) degree program that enables learners to explore the behavioral, psychological and social factors that affect and influence the general health of communities and populations, both nationally and internationally. These and other skills can be learned through Capella’s with Social and Behavioral Sciences specialization.
Capella’s online MPH – Social and Behavioral Sciences program is designed around national public health curriculum standards and provides an overview of public health issues and administrative systems. The curriculum also includes focused course work on social and behavioral theories and research methodologies; program planning and evaluation; assessment and surveillance; health disparities; international public health; and public health information for diverse populations.
The full program consists of 60 quarter credits and these are earned by completing the required number of Core Courses and Specialization Courses. Apart from classroom learning, the program also requires learners to embark on a collaborative project involving local public health organizations. This activity provides learners with opportunities to gain practical knowledge of relevant organizations, programs and policies, and apply learnings to real life situations. Graduates of this program often pursue management or director level positions in public health or social welfare organizations.
Tuition does not normally include the cost of books. However, various financial aid options, such as grants, loans and scholarships are in place and are readily available to eligible students.
