Online MS in Criminal Justice (Hodges University)
The Master of Science in Criminal Justice Program is offered by Hodges University to students interested in the study of the criminal justice system. The program has been designed to allow development of students’ theoretical understanding that is of critical importance to practical applications in the field. Students have a choice between two (2) tracks of study namely Behavioral Sciences and Crisis Management.
Students are required to complete thirty (30) semester hours to be eligible for graduation. The program curriculum consists of the Core Component and the Track Component. Required Core Courses include Research Methods, Criminal Justice Theory, Ethics in the Criminal Justice System, and the Criminal Justice Capstone Project. Required Behavioral Science Track Courses include Special Topics in Criminal and Social Morality, Studies in Criminal Deviance, Critical Issues in Victimology, Stress Management and Behavior, Forensic Psychology, and Special Populations in the American Criminal Justice System. The Crisis Management Track is comprised of courses in Seminar in Criminal Justice Organization and Administration, Strategic Planning and Crisis Management, Stress Management and Behavior, Forensic Psychology, Homeland Security, and Domestic Terrorism. A full-time student is expected to complete the program within four (4) terms.
Programs in criminal justice need to be updated with the changes in society. This program aims to remain current and relevant to fully prepare students to serve the community which they belong to. Learning is enhanced by the expertise of practicing attorneys, corrections personnel, probation and parole officers, judges, and law enforcement officers.
Applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Other requirements include official transcripts, minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last sixty (60) credits of college-level work, and passing results for the Admissions Test. The university is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
