Online Master Degree Program: MS in Management (Kaplan University)
The Master of Science in Management as offered by Kaplan University is designed to provide students with the valuable skills of complex problem identification, solution implementation, and the ability to make sound decisions as related to the current business environment. The program puts emphasis on effective strategies pertaining to management and organization. Through the rigorous training provided in the program, graduates are expected to be able to find appropriate solutions for actual and real business situations.
The program has a length of fifty-six (56) credit hours. Required courses include Business Communications, Strategic Human Resource Management, Managers as Leaders, Management Theories and Practices – Past/Current and Future, Skills for Professional Impact, Foundations for Effective Management Practice, Organizational Excellence and Changes, Action Research and Consulting Skills, Strategic Financial Analysis, Applied Research Project, and sixteen (16) credits of Specialization Courses. Offered areas of specialization include Healthcare Management, Human Resources, Information Technology, Leadership, Organizational Design and Development, and Project Management. The skills learned from completion of the program can be used to meet the requirements of managerial and executive positions in the chosen field of specialization.
The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree from any accredited college or university plus a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.5.
Credit transfers in graduate programs are allowed under certain guidelines. Students can apply up to three (3) earned courses from previous learning towards the total number of credits required in the program. Select courses can also be waived based on the result of application for Challenge Exam credit. Graduate transfer work that has been completed more than five (5) years before admission to the program shall be evaluated for applicability on a case-to-case basis.
