The Master of Science in Nursing is offered by Kaplan University to registered nurses intent on earning credentials to pursue career advancement opportunities in administrative, faculty, or staff development roles through the online format. Opportunities for management-level and advanced practice positions are also made available to graduates of this program. Accreditation is provided by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

The program is offered in the Nurse Informatics Specialization which is one of the specialized programs that have additional accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Specialization Courses consist of Critical Concepts and Competencies for the Informatics Nurse Specialist, Innovations in Educational and Research Technologies, Integration of Informatics into the Healthcare Environment, Health Systems Project Management, Nursing Informatics Specialist Practicum, and Evidence-Based Project Proposal.

The Nurse Informatics Specialization is designed to prepare students to take the Informatics Nursing Certification Exam by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Applicants must have a current license as a registered nurse.
