Online MS in Psychology (Kaplan University)
The Master of Science in Psychology is offered by Kaplan University in three (3) Areas of Specialization namely General Psychology, Addictions, and Applied Behavioral Analysis. The program focuses on the underlying processes of individual human experience and behavior as well as the core knowledge, research, and theories utilized in the field, Core Courses are intended to develop a broad foundation in psychology while Specialization Courses provide learning in the emphasis area appropriate to personal educational and career goals.
Students will learn to apply psychological theories to actual situations, evaluate and employ psychological theories and concepts in different environments, analyze and apply theories and concepts to form strategies, and evaluate implications of decisions in the field of psychology. An option is given to students in qualifying for graduation on whether to complete a thesis or pass a comprehensive exam. The Applied Behavioral Analysis Specialization prepares students to take the Board Certified Behavior Analyst Examination subject to compliance of other qualifying requirements. The university is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Core Requirements for the Thesis Track include Applied Statistics for Psychology, Foundations of Professional Psychology, Ethics and Standards of Professional Psychology, Advanced Research Methods, Testing/ Measurement/ and Assessment, Life Span Development, Master’s Research and Thesis I, and Master’s Research and Thesis II for a total of forty-five (45) credit hours. Required Specialization Courses constitute twenty-five (25) credit hours. The Comprehensive Exam Track substitutes the Comprehensive Exam for the Thesis credits. Students are likewise required to complete twenty-five (25) credit hours of Specialization Courses. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
