Master’s Degree: MS in School Counseling (Capella University)
Capella University is offering an online Master of Science degree program with School Counseling specialization to meet the demand for qualified school counselors in the United States as enrollment figures in schools across the nation increase. Capella’s online MS School Counseling program is state approved, accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) as well as the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, and is patterned after the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model.
The full program consists of 72 quarter credits of academic coursework, and these are earned by completing the prescribed number of Core Courses, Specialization Courses, clinical experience (or residential colloquia) as well as 100 hours of practicum work and 600 hours of internship. Graduates of Capella’s online MS School Counseling program will be able to deliver and manage contemporary school counseling programs and act as a school leader who is also able to advocate for the personal, educational and social needs of the students. Graduates can also pursue licensure as school counselors.
The cost of Capella’s online MS School Counseling, which may be subject to change without prior notice, does not cover the cost of books and other incidental expenses. However, financial aid in the form of grants, loans and scholarships are readily available to eligible students.
