Master’s Degree: MS – Special Education Teaching (Capella University)

Capella University has an online Master of Science degree program that prepares educators to help children with learning disabilities. Capella’s online MS Special Education Teaching specialization is a state-approved degree program that has been developed around national special education standards. The course focuses on the latest strategies, practices, and techniques for teaching children with special needs. There are also opportunities to participate in field experiences that allows learners to apply learned skills in real life situations.

Capella’s online MS Special Education Teaching degree program is designed for currently licensed teachers, and the program is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The program, however, is not designed to meet initial teaching license requirements. Capella’s online MS Special Education Teaching degree program is preferred by licensed teachers and special education teachers who want to earn a license in special education teaching, as well as an endorsement in learning disabilities.

The full program consists of 60 quarter credits and these are earned by completing the required number of Core Courses, Specialization Courses and Learning Disabled (LD) Endorsement Courses. Some courses have prerequisites thus it is recommended that learners consult with an Enrollment Counselor prior to starting on the program.
