MSN Degree – Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (Drexel University)

Drexel University’s College of Nursing and Health Professions is regarded as one of the leading online nursing schools in the US. It offers the MSN Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program to registered nurses having valid licenses and are able to complete the required clinical practicum rotations in any of the participating states including Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, Virginia, Washington DC, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Maryland. This is an online program that requires on-campus participation for a minimum of three (3) days at the beginning of the practicum and another three (3) days at the end. The short residency visits are intended to provide students with the mentoring, guidance and direct support deemed critical to learning.

Designed to prepare nurse practitioners for varied roles as educators, clinicians, researchers and even leaders in the field of collaborative healthcare environment, the MSN Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program makes its graduates eligible for certification through ANCC or AACN. It is a 55-credit graduate program consisting of core courses, support courses, clinical courses and electives. Core courses includes Confronting Issues in Contemporary Health Care Environment; Advanced Ethical Decision Making in Health Care; Intro to Biostatistics; Methods for Health Research; Information, Innovation and Technology in Advanced Nursing Practice, and Evidence- Based Approaches to Practice. A total of six hundred forty (640) clinical hours is required for this program. The curriculum has been arranged to enable students to complete two (2) eight-hour clinical days per week.

Applicants to this program should be bachelor degree holders with a major in nursing from a program accredited by the National League of Nursing, a minimum GPA of 3.0, official transcripts, copy of current and unrestricted RN license in the US, resume, two (2) letters for recommendation, and personal statement. Previous related work experience is an advantage for application.
