Online PhD in Management – Environmental Social Sustainability (Colorado Technical University)
Colorado Technical University (CTU) has designed a unique Doctor of Management degree program with a concentration on Environmental and Social Sustainability. This program, offered primarily through a combination of on-campus (Colorado, Sioux Falls, and Denver) and online classes, aims to provide students with the theoretical, research and application capabilities needed to pursue a career in their professions, with applications in Environmental and Social Sustainability (ESS).
The course content of CTU’s Doctor of Management with Environmental Social Sustainability degree program is geared towards teaching students to apply systems thinking skills to environmental issues, and make plans for the implementation of the triple bottom line in an organization or business enterprise. The program includes twelve 5-credit classes and twelve 3-credit research and writing courses. Through these courses, students are also taught how to frame policy agendas that involves collaboration among different businesses, government entities and advocacy organizations. Some of the required courses under this program include: Systems Thinking for Sustainability, Organizational Performance and the Triple Bottom Line, Advanced Action Research for ESS, Policy and Governance in Trans-Organizational Collaboration for ESS, Strategic Thinking, and Futuring and Innovation for ESS.
The courses of CTU’s Doctor of Management in ESS are taught using the university’s Professional Learning Model™ wherein each course combines an active online component with an intensive residential session that usually runs for four and a half days.
