Capella University is offering an online Doctor of Philosophy degree program that specializes in Professional Studies in Education. This program is designed for those who are already involved in the field of education and are working in teaching or training situations. Capella’s online PhD has a flexible program that provides learners the ideal opportunity to build upon previous knowledge and experience, and choose courses and research topics of their preference or would bolster their careers.

Apart from earning a PhD, those enrolled in Capella University’s online PhD – Professional Studies in Education have the option to earn a Post Master’s Certificate in Enrollment Management (along with a professional Enrollment Management Certificate from Noel-Levitz) or a Post Master’s Certificate in College Teaching. The program, however, is not designed to satisfy the licensure requirements for P-12 public school teachers or administrators. Graduates of Capella’s online PhD – Professional Studies in Education would be qualified to pursue careers as post-secondary faculty or take on consulting / leadership positions in a wide range of educational settings, including institutions of higher learning, businesses, non-profit organizations, health care, the government and even the military.

The full program is composed of 120 quarter credits worth of academic coursework that are earned by taking the required number of Core Courses, Specialization Courses and seventeen elective courses. Tuition does not necessarily include the cost of books and other incidental expense that may arise whilst the program is being completed.
