Capella University has developed an online Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) that specializes in Special Education Leadership. This program aims to strengthen a learner’s ability to oversee and be an advocate for the increasing number of students who are in need of special education services. Through this program, learners are also able to contribute to the field of Special Education through their own doctoral research.

Capella’s online PhD – Special Education Leadership degree program provides a strong foundation in general P-12 educational administration. The curriculum includes focused course work in special education administration, instructional strategies, law and finance. Graduates of Capella’s PhD in Special Education Leadership program will be eligible to pursue special education leadership positions at building, district, state and national level, take up higher education faculty positions, or work as consultants in the field of special education.

The full program consists of 120 quarter credits of academic coursework, and this can be earned by taking and passing the required number of Core Courses, Specialization Courses, and eleven elective courses. Financial aid in the form of scholarships, grants and loans are available to help reduce the cost of education.

Capella University’s online PhD in Special Education Leadership is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
