American Pacific University (APU)

American Pacific University (APU) is an online university that offers an alternative post secondary program for those interested in the healing arts.

Its one and only online program is called the Master’s Degree in Transpersonal Psychology (MATP), which melds psychology and spirituality in one field, as it joins the Western and Eastern approach to human psychology and healing.

Admission requirements to the online program include:

● an undergraduate degree from a U.S. College or University
● GPA of 3.0 or higher
● Two letters of recommendation s
● Resume or Curriculum Vitae (as applicable to the degree program)
● Completed Application form
● Non-refundable application fee of $125.00
● Completed Tuition Agreement Form
● 2-3 page Personal Statement that outlines your objectives and goals.
● 2×2 passport size photo
● Telephone interview
● Completion of Orientation Course

Tuition at APU is currently at $485 per credit hour with a required 3 credit course per term. The total tuition and fees for the entire program is estimated at $22,910. While there is no financial aid offered to students, the university has flexible payment plans depending on the student’s financial capability.

APU is accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), which listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency. However, listed on the university’s website is the disclaimer that its program “may not include some of the mandatory courses in its curriculum which may be required by specific licensing agencies” and as such encourages applicants to research on the specific laws in their current location.
