CIE is accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council which is an agency that gives accreditation to distance education and training institutions. It also received high rankings, reviews and approvals such as it being approved by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools. Cleveland Institute of Electronics is known for its distance education. As the school defines it, Distance learning happens when the student and instructor are in separate places or location. This online program involves online classes that are specifically designed for students who live at a distance from the college or university that they chose to enroll in. Cleveland Institute of Electronics make distance learning possible through online instruction, audio recordings and professional instructors that could be reached through e-mail, chat room, telephone or mail. Online Courses and Online Degrees include Electronics Technology with Laboratory, Electronics Technology with FCC License Preparation, Certification and Computer Technology, and Software Engineering Associate Degree.

Admissions or Registration in the College could be done online. An Online registration form is found on the CIE website. Scholarships and Financial Aid are available in different forms such as the Military Tuition Assistance where service members may be given up to 75% reimbursement. This kind of assistance is under the DANTES Program which caters to service members of the armed forces who are on active duty.
