Columbia Southern University was established for the purpose of meeting the demand for alternatives to the usual university experience. The university’s online program is made up of accredited online classes, online degrees and online courses that are designed for busy professionals since these programs could be completed at times that are convenient for one. Associate Degrees include courses on General Studies, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Fire Science, and Occupation Safety and Health. Columbia Southern University was given accreditation by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). Admissions in the University start with submitting an application. While the applicant is under “Temporary” Admissions Status, he or she must complete up to 12 undergraduate semester hours or 7 graduate semester hours. Tuition rate for undergraduate students is $200 per credit hour, $265 for graduate students and $300 for those under doctorate programs. Scholarships and Financial Aid are in the form of Federal Grants which include Pell Grants for Undergraduate Students and Academic Competitiveness grant for first and second year Undergraduate Students, and Federal Loans which could be in a form of Family Education Loans, Stafford Loans, Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students or Graduate PLUS Loans.
