Kent State University Online
Kent State University was established as the Kent Normal School in 1910. It has eight main campuses located in the northeast Ohio region, the largest and main campus located in Kent. Kent State was originally a teacher training school but since holding classes in 1912, it has grown and has added several baccalaureate and graduate programs in its course offerings. Most classes must be taken on-campus but Kent State has a distance learning arm where selected graduate-level degrees and certificates can be earned.
Kent State offers nine online graduate degrees in the fields of Business Administration, Instructional Technology, Library Media, Master of Arts, Journalism Educator, Master of Science in Knowledge Management, Masters of Technology, Public Administration, and School of Library and Information Science. In addition, Kent also offers seven graduate level certificates (Autism Spectrum Intervention, Career Based Intervention, Certificate Program in Knowledge Management, Post Masters Nursing Education, Transition Specialist Endorsement, and Undergraduate Certificate in Public Health). Some credit and non-credit workshops are also available online.
In order to enroll in Kent State’s online programs, one must first be admitted as a student of Kent State University. To do so, potential students will need to complete an application form and submit this, together with other supporting documents such as proof of bachelor’s degrees, transcripts and exam (GMAT / GRE) results to Kent State’s Admissions Office. For more details, contact a Kent State Admissions Representative.
There is limited information on tuition fees for online courses, however, there is some data for on-campus tuition for non-Ohio residents. Financial aid packages, in the form of scholarships, grants and loans, are available to eligible students. Detailed information on tuition and financial aid can be obtained form Kent State’s Financial Aid Office.
Kent State University and its distance learning platform are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
