Ohio University (OU) was founded in 1804 and is one of the oldest universities in the United States. It is classified as a Tier 1 University by the US News, and named as a Doctoral/High Research Institution by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. In addition, the 2010 US News and World Report ranked OU’s undergraduate program 115th among national universities. OU’s offers its courses and degree programs through its main campus in Athens, Ohio and some programs are available through OU’s Lifelong and Distance Learning platform.
OU’s Lifelong and Distance Learning arm offers the same program quality of an OU degree but courses are conducted either fully online or feature interactive (online learning with intensive residencies at the Athens campus). The online degrees offered through Lifelong and Distance Learning include Online Associate Degrees in Applied Business (AAB), Arts (AA), Sciences (AS), and Individualized Studies (AIS); Online Bachelors Degrees in Technical and Applied Studies (BTAS), Specialized Studies (BSS), Nursing (BSN), and Criminal Justice (BCJ); and Online Masters Degrees in Health Administration, Athletic Administration, Coaching Education and Engineering Management. Other online course offerings such as Community College Partnerships, RN to BSN and classes focused on Early Childhood Education are also available through Lifelong and Distance Learning.
Tuition fees for OU’s online courses are not readily available however, there is an online tuition fee calculator found on the Ohio University and Lifelong Distance Learning websites. The calculator will not give an accurate figure but will, at least, give users an idea as to the potential cost of online education. Financial aid programs in the form of grants, scholarships and loans are readily available to help ease the online education costs.
The list of admission requirements for OU’s online programs are program dependent and further information can be obtained by contacting an OU Admission Representative.
