Oregon Institute of Technology Online

Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) was founded by Winston Purvine in 1947 to train and re-educate World War II veterans. The main campus is located on the outskirts of Klamath Falls in Oregon and maintain four satellite campuses in Portland Oregon, a site in La Grande, Oregon, and a partner location in Seattle, Washington. Courses are offered through their various campuses and also through the school’s distance education program.

OIT’s distance education program allows students to earn certificate, associate or bachelor’s degrees at their own pace and at their own leisure and all courses are conducted completely online. Online classes generally run for about 10 weeks and are followed by a final examination period.

OIT is one of the few educational institutions in the Pacific Northwestern and entire United States that offer online degree completion programs focusing on high demand health technologies (Bachelor’s Degree Completion Programs in Dental Hygiene, Echocardiography, Radiologic Science, Respiratory Care, and Vascular Technology). OIT also offers four-year online degrees (Information Technology, and Operations Management), an online degree completion in Allied Health management, and several online certificate and online Associate degree programs in Polysomnographic Technology.

There are three specialized ways, different from the general application procedures, of applying to one of OIT’s online degree programs and these have been designed to streamline the entire application process. Detailed information on the admission procedures can be discussed with an OIT Student Suppport Services Coordinator.

OIT is a state-supported university, as such, online degree completion program tuition fees are very affordable. Online tuition fees are reviewed annually and may not include cost of books and other incidental materials. Students enrolled in online courses may be eligible for financial aid, however, some conditions apply. For information, contact the Financial Aid office or visit the OIT Financial Aid web page.

Oregon Institute of Technology, and its Distance Education program are accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, an accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the US Department of Education.
