Philadelphia University was founded in 1884. Located in the East Falls neighborhood, the university offers bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees and doctor’s degrees through its six Schools: School of Architecture, School of Business Administration, School of Science and Health, School of Engineering and Textiles, School of Liberal Arts, and the School of Design and Media. Most of the programs offered are to be taken on-campus, however, the University, through the Office of Continuing and Professional Studies, offers four specialized medical courses which can be completed online, and an accelerated program (Accelerated Associate of Science Degree Program in Occupational Therapy Assistant Studies) which combines evening classes supported by online learning.
Philadelphia University’s completely online courses are in the fields of medicine. The online courses offered are First Assisting Course for Cesarean Birth, Home Birth Practice Essentials, Clinical Applications of Advanced Pharmacology and Therapeutics in Women’s Health, and Midwifery and Women’s Health Rountables. The first three online courses run for 60 hours and usually covers a 60 week period. The tuition for these online courses do not include the cost of books. The online course on Midwifery and Women’s Health Roundtables only runs for 20 hours. As with the other online courses, the tuition fee does not include the cost of books. Full payment is due at the time of registration and can be made through Visa or Mastercard.
Students who successfully complete one of these four online courses will, upon application and approval, receive Continuing Education Units (CEU) from the American College of Nurse-Midwives. The total number of CEU points will vary depending on the length of program completed.

Philadelphia University’s online courses are approved and accredited by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) and the Midwifery Education Accreditation Council (MEAC). The University itself is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
