University of New England Online

The University of New England (UNE) was founded in 1939 in Biddeford, Maine. It was originally called the College Seraphique and was an all-boy high school and junior college.

It first granted bachelors degrees in 1953 and the high school program was phased out in 1961. The college was first accredited in 1966 and accepted female students the following year, in 1967. The school was renamed The University of New England in 1978.

UNE is ranked by the US News and World Reports as one of the best regional universities in the north east. It offers degree programs focused on osteopathic medicine, health and natural sciences, human services, management, education and the liberal arts. Degrees can be earned through their two campuses: in Biddeford and in Portland, Maine; as well as through online learning through UNE’s extended campus.

UNE’s extended campus offers seven online graduate degree programs in the fields of Osteopathic Medicine, Public Health, Medical Education Leadership, Education, Social Work and Physical Therapy.
