Western International University (West) was founded in 1978 as a non-profit institution. At present, it is a for-profit educational institution providing its programs through three (3) physical campuses and the West Interactive Online. The university has historically been serving the educational needs of many adult learners unable to attend regular on-site classes. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Online programs lead to associate, bachelor’s or master’s degrees. Some of the areas of study covered include Business, Behavioral Science, Criminal Behavior, Human Resource Management, Legal Studies, Accounting, Informatics, Marketing, Business Administration, Management, Innovative Leadership, International Business, Public Administration, and Information Systems Engineering.
There are a number of financial aid options available to qualified students including federal grants and loans, cash plans, tuition reimbursement plans, third party billing plans, and scholarships. New courses offered by West Interactive Online begin the first week of every month and classes meet weekly for 2 months. Federal grants and loans however, can only be availed when admitted to an eligible degree or certificate program. Prospective students can verify with the Admissions Office for financial aid eligibility of chosen program. Depending on the number of students, courses may be split in multiple sections thereby separating students into sections held at different times. Many students have provided positive reviews for the overall online learning experience.
